The Alliance endorses candidates in local, state, and national races in both the primary and general elections. We base our endorsements decisions on candidate responses to a written survey of their perspectives on a variety of issues of concern to the LGBT and ally community. We also review the voting records of incumbents. Based on this information, the Alliance endorses candidates whom we believe are committed to advancing LGBT rights and addressing other progressive issues of concern to LGBT and ally voters.

General Election in November:

The Alliance is strongly endorsing the following incumbent candidates for the State Senate and House of Representatives from Western Massachusetts. During the State Constitutional Convention these legislators voted against the proposed amendment to the State Constitution banning same-sex marriage in Massachusetts. The legislature will vote on this amendment again in 2005. If it passes a second time, the proposed amendment must go to the voters in 2006. It is extremely important that we support the legislators who voted against this amendment in their reelection bids and let them know we need them to maintain their opposition to the constitutional amendment.
